Workers in mills south of Cairo and Giza began a picket this morning

Workers of a mills company, south of Cairo and Giza staged a sit-in, in all work sites this morning. The sit-in pickets eventually turned into strikes at several of the mills belonging to the company.

Nagy Rashad, a worker in the company and a member of the Management Committee of the Union of Egyptian Workers, declared that workers intend to lock up the Commissioner-General and his assistants until their demands are met. Their demands are as follows:
1 – Raise monthly incentives from 100% to 150%.
2 – Make the value of the shift allowance to 50% of the wage.
3 – Raise the value of allowance of the works nature from 15% to
50%.
4 – Raise the value of meal allowances to 210 pounds (similar to that of the
spinning and textile workers)
